I’m still not gonna comment on the Eagles’ offseason moves until the whole T.O. ordeal is decided this weekend. However, there is still more to be said about the idiocy of the Eagles Message Board. The instant you disagree with the organization, express respect for another team, or contemplate the possibility of the team not performing well, a bunch of guys who sit on their asses all day posting useless crap will attack you as a moron, n00b, or traitor. Unfortunately it can still be one of the best sources for the latest information as most of the people there have nothing better to do all day than monitoring all sports news. Therefore I still check it out, although I won’t post.

I can’t believe Sony made this movie, but I just saw a traile for The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra and all I can say is I’m hooked. Go to the site and it’s instantly understood that this movie is a total parody of all the cheesy sci-fi films from the 50’s that you now see on MST3K. The trailer is hysterical, including such lines as: “Betty, you know what this meteor could mean to science. It could mean actual advances in the field of science.” Check out the site, it looks like fun.

Unfortunately today it opens in a limited release, and I don’t see a wide release scheduled. Not sure what that means, but certainly it will be playing somewhere in NYC. At least this could hold me over until the premiere of Hellboy!

While doing my previously mentioned research into audio codec quality, I read a post by Alltaken that summed up rather well why I am against sites like iTunes. Like I said before, eventually I’ll write a full article myself, but this is a nice blurb in the meantime.

Ugh, it’s St. Patrick’s Day for Hoboken. Yeah, we hold it a but early. I tend to avoid going out into town on this day (other than for the parade) because it’s just plain awful. Seriously, it’s all just an excuse for everybody to get disgustingly drunk and stumble around in public like a bunch of frat boys. I think I went around once a couple years ago and that was more than enough for me. My neighbors are having a party (complete with keg), but I’ve got a bit of a headache and really don’t feel like participating. Instead I’m just sitting around with Teddy and Jessie, listening to some music, and debating whether to continue ripping my CD collection to 192kbps mp3s or switch to 128kbps AAC. I’ll probably head downstairs in a little bit to either watch a movie or win the Super Bowl.

Yes, those wacky Guinea Pigs have once again invaded my apartment for a week of cute snuggliness. They’re not nearly as hyper, as middle-age has settled in for Teddy and Jessie is finally beginning to mature. But they still provide a lot of fun and enjoyment (not to mention company while Lisa is away 🙂 ).

All of A List Apart should be linked on my sidebar (eventually), but for starters I just want to remember this really cool article on custom underlines. I truly am amazed at the power of CSS and the creativity of those who come up with these applications.

I’m not a big hockey fan, but I keep an eye on the Flyers from a distance simply because they’re from Philly. I would like to seem them make a real run for it this season, but after some of the injuries I’ve begun to doubt whether or not they can keep it together. Primarily, there was the bone-shattering slapshot that took out star center Jeremy Roenick last month (which was followed moments later by a collision that has sidelined another center, Keith Primeau). I’m just happy to see that doctors have shown there was no brain damage in Roenick, and that (hopefully) the worst is behind him. There’s a chance that he might not return this season (or even next if he looks to retirement), but it’s good to know that he should make a full recovery one way or another. Unfortunately Primeau is still up and down with his concussion, and they always make me nervous. I’m glad that he’s taking his time recuperating as I think too many players are rushed back from what is a very dangerous injury with very difficult to diagnose long-term effects.

On the otherside, don’t you dare tell me that Allen Iverson is dogging it. The guy has played through the most ridiculous amount of injuries. Of course after 7 and a half seasons of that he’s going to start healing slower. Give the guy a little slack, I’m sure all of that losing is probably killing the adrenaline rush that normally keeps him going. They may be overpaid, but they’re still human.

I drove Lisa to the train station this morning. She heads out for about two weeks of fun and sun in Florida and the Bahamas. Our initial plans were to take the PATH train in, but as usual we ran late and I just decided to drive to Penn Station in Manhattan. On weekends that drive can be pretty easy, and we really had no problem getting there with plenty of time to spare. The only real problem was my total lack of concentration driving back. I managed to drive right through a red light in the middle of the block in front of that big Post Office behind Madison Square Garden. Whoops! Fortunately no police officers saw my mental lapse there and I quickly hurried back to the safety of this side of the river. Now I have two weeks of eating meat and playing video games to look forward to 🙂 .

I guess today would be the real anniversary of this site. I first registered this domain back in 1999, and after years of having nothing but a stupid holding page I finally tried out b2 at the end of 2002. The first install was never really used and come January of 2003 I reloaded with the latest version and dubbed the blog “indieb0i’s rants”. But in truth, it wasn’t until almost a month and a half later that I put together my first real post.

While I’ve been somewhat erratic, February 26th marks the start of my first real “conrtibution” to the ol’ triple W. I wish I had something more interesting to say about this, but perhaps my post tomorrow regarding the Internet, job security, and privacy will delve a bit deeper. For now I’ll just sing three cheers for myself for having kept this up for a year.

Okay, I actually stole that title from an article about the Eagles two years back when they went 5-1 after McNabb went down with an injury. The biggest news item for Philly until the free agent period starts for real next month is that a deal has been made to send 3rd-string QB AJ Feeley to the Dolphins. I’m happy for the club, because they’ll get a 2nd round draft pick out of it, but I’m also happy for Feeley, because he has the potential to be a really good starting QB but would be stuck as a career backup in Philly. It’s a smart move for both sides and (considering recent injuries) just makes me anxious to see who Reid will pick up as the new number 3. Since Tim Hasselbeck looks to be staying in DC, I guess they’ll just look late in the draft.
