Lisa and I have been talking about buying a house, preferably before the wedding… scratch that – yesterday Lisa went out with a realtor to look at some houses… scratch that – we put a bid on a house… scratch that – we put a second bid on a house and are waiting to hear back from the realtor.
Things are moving at a slightly faster pace than planned (at least in my mind). Right now I’m not sure what I’m more scared of – the sellers not accepting our bid or the sellers accepting our bid. At the same time that I’m arguing with Lisa as to whether or not we can actually swing it financially, I’m already putting up shelves and knocking down walls in my mind.
I can see us in that house, and that’s both comforting and terrifying.
My guess is you’re thinking of East Orange, which is right next to Newark. West Orange has been nice for a long time – the house we’re looking at is surrounded by 2 golf course, 2 country clubs, Eagle Rock Reservation, and 4 wedding halls.
Hey, congrats… I’ve been looking myself, but I’ll have to see where I am financially come January before I know if I’m going to be renting or buying.
Whereabouts are you guys looking?
West Orange. It’s real close to Montclair, but a bit cheaper (unlike Montclair, you can buy a small house). It would also give me about the same, or better commute. Even if this deal falls through (still waiting to hear back today or tomorrow), we’ll probably continue to look in that area.
I heard that area had a noticable crime rate, at least a few years back. I don’t know where in West Orange you’re looking, or if it’s improved lately, or heck if maybe it was an exaggeration altogether… but be careful nonetheless 🙂
Only 2 golf courses? Sounds like a ghetto to me…
Seriously man, congratulations 🙂 hope it works out you.
